  • I don’t have transportation to get there. What do I do?

Call us and we will figure out a plan.

  • What should I bring with me?

One bag that can fit in a locker (like a locker at school).

  • Is there a curfew?

It ranges based on your age. It starts at 6:30pm and can go up from there.

  • What can I expect when I arrive?

You will be asked some basic questions regarding your current needs, health and wellbeing then you will have a choice to stay with us or take what you need (food, shower, clothing) and leave the building.

  • What if there isn’t room for me the day/night I arrive?

We will not turn you away if you need shelter. We will be able to house you overnight.

  • What if I only need/want to stay one night?

Coming to Covenant House Florida is a choice. You are not required to stay longer than you need to.

  • What if I only need/want some clothes, food or shower?

You will still need to answer the basic intake questions and fill out some paperwork with the help of staff members and you are welcome to clean clothes, food or a shower before you leave.

  • Do I have to share a room? If so, how with how many people?

Yes, you will have up to 6 roommates.

  • What if I choose to stay longer than one night?

A qualified member of staff will be assigned to the intake process. Your caseworker will conduct a full assessment on your needs and life goals and partner with you to build a tailored plan with you to help you reach your goal(s).  This process takes approximately two weeks.

  • What happens after I have completed the intake assessment if I choose to stay?

You will have access to programs such as Job Readiness Training, Substance Abuse Intervention, Life Skills Classes, Transportation Assistance, Education, Parenting Education, Housing Assistance, and Support and a safe place to stay while you are working towards your goal(s).

  • Does it cost anything?

No. You will not be asked or required to pay for any services.

We have very generous people in our community who financially support your journey to independence or family reunification. Your room, food, and classes are completely free of charge.

  • Are the staff nice there?

YES! We have an amazing team dedicated to helping you! We want you to be successful in life!

  • What are the other kids like?

Some are like you. Some are not like you but you’ve all got something in common, you are all age 21 and under and you’re looking for a better way forward.
