Clinical Services Specialist (Male Residential Team)

 

Purpose of the Position:  This position provides supportive therapeutic counseling services, both individual and group, to Covenant House Florida youth and their family members, as needed. This position must work interdependently with program staff to ensure high quality case management and aftercare services.

Responsibilities:  Provide individual and group therapeutic services for male residents (ages 18-21) on issues such as: mental health disorders, conflict resolution, anger management, relationship skills, depression, suicidal ideation, addiction, etc.  Responsible for active participation in case management program functions and establishing effective work relationships with direct care and support staff, to ensure that all therapeutic counseling activities are appropriately coordinated with case planning, plan implementation, discharge and aftercare.  Responsible for service provision and oversight of a grant funded project to provide screening, therapeutic interventions and crisis counseling.  This includes accurate documentation in progress notes, gathering data, recording, analyzing, and compiling information in an accurate, understandable and timely manner.  Monthly and quarterly reporting of a summary of the grant data is required.


Requirements:  Master's Degree in a clinical discipline with Florida State Registered Intern required.  Candidate must have 2 years experience in providing therapeutic counseling, one year experience in case management with adolescents and their families, demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to culturally diverse populations, effective interpersonal communication skills, and computer experience desired.  


Work Schedule:  Sundays & Mondays 9am-5pm, Tuesdays-Thursdays 10am-6pm, Fridays & Saturdays off.

CHAMP Services Case Manager

 

Purpose of the Position:  Serve as liaison to the Covenant House Addiction Management Project.  Provide daily case management and direct supervision to youth who are participating in CHAMP program.


Responsibilities:  Supervise residents within all phases of the Covenant House Addiction Management Project (CHAMP).  Maintain order and exercise appropriate judgment at all times (i.e. during meetings, meals, common areas, recreations, and during escorts). Familiarize and assist residents with the assessment process. Guide and advocate for the residents in planning future goals and setting attainable objectives.  Provide support, encouragement, and accountability to the residents in their daily activities so they fulfill their plans.  Support the daily activities of residents including facilitating daily Business Meetings, providing escorts to 12 Step meetings, and by conducting random U/A screenings on identified youth.  Ensure that documentation is completed in a timely manner and meets the standards established by state license requirements, funding sources, and agency policies, including tracking data for grant objectives.  Communicate pertinent information with staff and youth throughout each shift.  Take an active part in shift transition and provide vital information about residents and referrals.  


Requirements: 
Bachelor's Degree, two years of work history, knowledge of Twelve Step philosophy and principles, and valid Florida drivers license with good driving record.  Other desired qualities include experience working with adolescents and facilitating group activities, with effective written, verbal, and listening communication skills.  Ability to maintain order, exercise appropriate judgment in crisis situations, and effective interpersonal skills are also required.  


Work Schedule:  Tuesdays 1-9pm, Wednesdays 10-6, Thursdays 1-9pm, Fridays 10-6, Saturdays 10-6, Sundays & Mondays off.

Case Manager—Full-Time

Provide daily case management and direct supervision to youth who reside in our residential crisis shelter in Ft. Lauderdale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Two years work experience preferably with adolescents

  • Experience with substance abuse treatment preferred

  • Excellent writing and communication skills

  • Computer literacy

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License and good driving record

  • Must FBI background check and drug test

Work Schedule

  • The overnight schedule is four ten-hour shifts from 10:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m.

  • The Day/Evening schedule is two days 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and three days 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.  All schedules include working on weekends.
