Volunteer Services Specialist
Purpose of the Position:
This position is
responsible for all volunteer functions including the recruitment,
screening, selection, and placement for CHF volunteers. This
position will support the work of CHF volunteers and student interns
to have a positive and meaningful impact on the youth at Covenant
House Florida, and to support the needs of the agency.
Responsibilities:

Plan and develop CHF volunteer recruitment efforts to ensure
community awareness for agency needs and to attract volunteer
support. This includes conducting presentations to outside groups
and through speaking at agency and/or other community events.

Interview, screen, select, and place CHF volunteers within
direct care, administrative, and support areas, ensuring their
skills and experience match position requirements.

Coordinate and facilitate volunteer orientation to ensure
that new volunteers and student interns fully grasp the CHF
Mission, philosophy of care, and basic understanding of their job
role. Ensure ongoing training to increase their knowledge and
understanding of the youth served, and adherence to agency
policies and procedures.

Complete all new hire paperwork for CHF volunteers, including
verification of credentials (if applicable), volunteer position
descriptions, background screenings, reference checks, and the
timely submission of performance evaluations for student interns.
Maintain accurate records, including volunteer and student intern
files and database management systems, ensuring that documentation
in files is in compliance with licensing standards and
governmental regulations.

Train and counsel management and staff on volunteer issues,
needs, and retention efforts. Resolve volunteer problems/issues,
including scheduling conflicts or performance problems. Identify
opportunities to develop the skills of current CHF volunteers.

Plan, organize, and implement ongoing events or activities to
ensure appropriate recognition and retention of CHF volunteers,
including the development and distribution of volunteer
newsletters, monthly anniversary lists, birthday lists, and annual
service awards.

Develop opportunities for group volunteer projects. This
includes the recruitment, preparation and coordination of group
volunteer projects and events, including the holiday events gift
drive for kids. Develop menu of volunteer opportunities for
High School Students.
Requirements:
Bachelors
Degree and minimum of two years of volunteer management
experience, including recruiting and placement, with prior
experience in special events or group projects required. Other
requirements include strong organizational skills, excellent oral
and written communication skills, and the capability to maintain
sensitive documentation for volunteers and applicants. Must be
able to effectively interact with multi-disciplinary staff, and
with all levels of the organization. Desired qualities include
strong problem solving skills, and ability to exercise good
judgment. Must have demonstrated understanding and ability to
teach CH Mission & Principles. Must also be able to work a
flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Salary/Benefits:
This position
is full time and will earn $15.76 per hour, with annual salary
adjustments. Benefits currently include 100% of employee health
insurance premiums, 50% towards the cost of dependent health
premiums, life and dental insurance, 403(b) savings and pension
benefits, with generous time off including vacation, holiday,
personal, and sick leave.
Employees who have been
with the agency for 12 months may qualify for up to $3000 per year
towards tuition reimbursement.
Work
Schedule:
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays 11am-7pm,
Fridays & Saturdays 9am-5pm, with Sundays & Mondays off. (Requires
flexibility)

Case Manager — Full-Time
Purpose of the Position: To
provide daily case management and direct supervision to youth who reside in our residential crisis shelter in Ft. Lauderdale.
Requirements: Bachelors Degree required. Requirements include Two years work experience preferably with adolescents, experience with substance abuse treatment preferred, excellent writing and communication skills, computer literacy, excellent organizational skills, valid Florida Driver’s License and good driving record, and must FBI background check and drug test.
Work Schedule: The overnight schedule is four ten-hour shifts from 10:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. The Day/Evening schedule is two days 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and three days 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. All schedules include working on weekends.
