Jennifer's Appreciation
I lived in Ft.Lauderdale until I was 16 and my mother moved to Tennessee. I was 13 when I came to your door. I was a runaway, I was hungry and scared, and my family, at the time, was out of touch with what I needed and what was happening. I suppose it was easier for them to disregard me at that time. I hadn't been going to school either. I guess I have a typical story in that regard.
I am now 32 years old, married, college educated, and am proud to say I am expecting my first child any day now. Although the road was not easy early on, I have the most wonderful life now.
My time at the Covenant House made all the difference and that is true. After being at the Covenant House for a few months, receiving counseling, and looking from the outside in, I began to change in a positive way. I wish I could express in words what Covenant House means to me. If not for your services, I don't know what would have happened to me on the streets of Ft.Lauderdale. I was very lucky and God was looking out for me through you.
Thank you for caring for those who would otherwise be lost.
Much love, Jennifer.
